This book is not meant to be an introduction to R or to programming in general as we assume the reader has familiarity with the R language to include defining functions, managing R objects, controlling the flow of a program, and other basic tasks. While an abundance of videos, blog posts, and tutorials exist online, we have long been frustrated by the lack of consistency, completeness, and bias towards singular packages for implementation. If you are familiar with the analytic methodologies, this book may still serve as a reference for how to work with the various R packages for implementation. We intend this work to be a practitioner’s guide to the machine learning process and a place where one can come to learn about the approach and to gain intuition about the many commonly used, modern, and powerful methods accepted in the machine learning community.
This feature of our Smart Assemblies tool has been around for several years already, but I’d just like to remind our existing users about it and show it to Revit users who are new to our Precast Concrete design software. Because this is a tip that can really help you save a lot of time by avoiding a lot of inefficient, boring clicking in Revit. If you want to create individual piece tickets for precast concrete walls in Revit, your best option is to go with assemblies because they have separate views, schedules, and information about each production element. The downside: Working with assemblies can be quite a pain if you use Revit out of the box. Here’s an example with precast sandwich wall panels. In my test project I drew a couple of panels in different directions and created assemblies with Revit. Revit creates the assembly origin, which gives information about view directions.īelow you can see the axes of the origin, the green arrow being the direction of the front view. Revit Assembly Rotation – Manual vs Automatic Notice that the orientation of the origin for most of the wall assemblies that I have created below is wrong. If you use plain Revit, then you have to select one wall, select ‘Create Assembly’, give it a name, and then it will be created. So, that’s at least three mouse clicks for each assembly, assuming you keep the default name for it. But it’s not that bad considering what it takes to edit the assembly and change its orientation. Just getting the front view to point in the correct direction requires six clicks. As I could not find ways to rotate the scope boxes, I turned to try it with some python using examples found in this forum. I got as far as laying out the scope boxes but got stuck with rotating it. And that’s for almost every wall assembly in the project. Hi There, I need to set up some scope boxes that rotate with varying angles. Since we’re in the business of reducing BIM stress, we made sure our Smart Assemblies tool could eliminate this time-consuming task by rotating the assembly origin automatically for you so that front view is always the exterior side of the wall. Filter out all the views which cannot have a scopebox (reduce proces time) Check if a view Contains the name of a Scopebox (FirstFloorBlock 1 -> Block 1) Always get the First scopebox it finds and assign to the View. Workflow for Auto-rotating Revit Assembly Origin And there’s an option to reverse it and change the direction of the front view to show the internal side of the wall, which is especially important for precast sandwich walls. Assign Scope Box to View by View Name.dyn (49.8 KB) I have made a script somewhat similar to this. Here’s the workflow for auto-rotating the origin of an assembly using Smart Assemblies. Studies conducted in 19 suggest a link between language and the way we think about the world. Considering we all view the world using the same sight-giving organs and live in a world with the same spectrum of colour, it would be a fair assumption that we all perceive colour in the same way. Some of the most profound studies that explore that hypothesis involves the way that speakers of different languages perceive colours differently. Edward Sapir had ideas in the 1920s about the relationship between speech and thoughts which were later developed by his student Benjamin Lee Whorf to form a hypothesis which proposes that the way we speak influences the way we think and view the world, as well as the way that we behave. The idea that the language affects the way we experience the external world will be familiar to students of linguistics who encounter the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis. The idea of words and language having the capacity to affect our relationship with the material world is fascinating given that there are over 7000 languages spoken globally. When this magical incantation is spoken before the mouth of a closed cave concealing treasures within, the rocks part allowing the speaker to gain entry. Also, of the famous phrase, ‘Open Sesame’ originating from the tale of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. This puts in mind tales such as Rumpelstiltskin in which the eponymous villain devises a challenge where he can only be beaten if his name is correctly guessed. It is in giving the correct names that he is able to proceed. In the Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, the journey of the god Osiris into the Underworld contains many challenges in which Osiris must name things, from the parts of the boat he is conveyed in, to the names of other deities. In his book Magick in Theory and Practice, Crowley states that members of his movement, “…are well aware of a Word whose analysis contains all truth…a word indeed potent for any which dares to use it.” Within his practices, Crowley instructs his followers to call on the names of deities as a means of manifesting their will. Whilst Crowley himself rejected the definition of ‘Satanism’, he was strongly influenced by it as well as by a variety of ancient and contemporary religions ranging from ancient Egyptian practices to Kabbala and Islamic mysticism. Occultist and controversial figure, Aleister Crowley, referred to as ‘the most wicked man in the world’ founded his own belief system described by scholars as a “magico-religious movement”. When looking at the nature of prayer within some organised religions, there is a shared practice in the recitation of are specific words in a specific order, often deriving from verses within sacred texts. Whilst there is no word involved, written letters being a password of sorts makes an interesting comparison. Words as a driving force of creation is echoed in the Hebrew folktale of the Golem a figure moulded from clay, inanimate until three Hebrew letters are inscribed onto its forehead, giving his creator influence over the Golem’s will. In the third verse of Genesis in the King James Bible, Earth is described of as a dark void without life of form, and then “…God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” In this translation it is interesting that emphasis is put on God speaking His commandment rather than willing or intending the light into being. Words having the power of manifestation can be found in ancient texts. This is the contract that is made that on uttering this magic word, the magician will be in possession of a supernatural power allowing them to manifest a creature out of thin air.įor a long time, I believed that this magic word had no distinct meaning outside of performance magic, however, although the word itself is of unknown origin, within Hebrew etymology, ‘Abracadabra’ translates to ‘I will create as I speak’ and in Aramaic to, ‘I create like the word.’ Both of these definitions place an emphasis on the relationship between spoken word and manifestation. Anyone who is familiar with the rabbit-being-pulled-from-the-hat trick is aware that the rabbit cannot appear unless the magic word has been spoken. When we think of ‘magic’ or ‘magic tricks’, the archetypal image of a magician pulling a rabbit from a hat after saying the all-important magic word usually springs to mind, and when it comes to magical lexis, ‘Abracadabra’ tops the list. One example is lactose, contained in milk products, which can upset a dog’s digestive tract.
I even asked it to put cut marks on, which appear on the borders similar to what a publisher does to their early beta copies for those who have worked on writing a book. On my Windows machine Adobe Reader did a great job of printing actual size. I then moved it to a Windows-based machine, since Adobe does not seem to have a good reader for MacOS (likely this has something to do with Apple/Adobe conflicts in the far past.) I followed the advice I read somewhere else and exported a PDF of the document which would not fit on a single sheet of paper. You may choose to adjust a little if there is a very small amount printed on some of the pages, e.g., I have seen a corner less than 1-inch square put onto a single sheet. Then, do your stuff, and print using the “Distribute…” mechanism to see what happens. I suggest creating your large sheet with at least 0.39 inches of border (for my printer,) as that is what the default was when I open a new document in Libre Draw. It is likely something hard-coded into the device driver, and I don’t want to look for the source for that or try to reverse engineer it from the binary, so we are stuck. When I try to print something by selecting “Distribute on multiple sheets of paper,” I get something that does not seem to follow these limitations. Down below where it said “- end Macbook.” This section was when I thought I might be able to print from LibreOffice running on my Macbook. (No tabs available to line up columns in the editor for posting to this site or I don’t know how to use them.) I found out my laser printer will print within about this far from each side of an 8.5x11 inch sheet of paper in portrait mode, with the bottom being the side you see on the bottom of your document: Top: 0.25 inches I created a test page with lines 0.1 inches apart. PRINTING LARGER THAN A SINGLE SHEET OF PAPER I learned more about printing things larger than a single sheet of paper, but I don’t know where to put them. Then I set the “Width:” and “Height:” values to what I wanted. I don’t know what happens if you do not do this. I changed the “Format:” selection from “A4” to “User” because that seems to make sense. (I’ll be the first to admit to having had that stance in the past and even now.) So it takes opening your mind to see that the template system is probably more versatile while keeping things pretty simple. Unfortunately, new users sometimes want LO to work the way that other things they’ve used work. This has probably been covered in much more depth elsewhere in Ask, so be sure to search more widely for this. Later you can go back to File Templates Manage Templates. Then save that page as a Template, possibly the Default Template using: File Templates Save as Template.Įnter a template name, like Letter Portrait narrow margins or whatever and possibly check the Set as Default Template box. To set the printer page size go to Format Page. To get started creating your own Template you:įirst create a page, possibly a dummy page, with the settings you want. You can download a template, or create your own. (Tip: For base forms use Writer Templates not base Templates.) Each template is a starting point for your settings when you create a document. To make this work smoothly, LO uses what are called Templates. I don’t see anywhere in LibreOffice where I can tell the printer I’m using a 4 x 6 card. Feel free to reach out to us at 510.649.3001 for more information.Unlike applications with just one set of settings, LO has the ability to have many different paper size and other setups.įor example, say your work sometimes requires you to use Letter, but other times you need Legal, or A4, or whatever. Can’t seem to print on a 4 x 6 index card with my HP OfficeJet 6700 printer.
